What is Fast to Feast? It is the first giving program designed for the students involved with Raider Catholic. This provides a way for YOU, a college student, to grow in your spiritual life and help your Raider Catholic community continue to flourish.
Why should I join? As a college student it is easy to take good things for granted, and reach for them as needed. With this day and time, our world has began to treat our faith in the same manner. We are thankful for God, but do not necessarily give Him the time needed until we need something from Him. Same can be said for St. E's and their finacial support for the majority of Raider Catholic's budget since founded in 1934 as the Newman Group. With our new building, they cannot do this on their own, and should not.
Why fasting? The idea behind fasting is so that we sacrifice a bit of good, for the greater good of our life, which is to make more room for God. We abstain from food, comforts, entertainment not out of pride for others to see us, but out of love for God.
#FastToFeast invites you to join the Raider Catholic staff, and limit or give up your lunch every Wednesday. With the $1, $5, $10, $20 you save by fasting, you can offer as a tithe and as a way to give back to your Raider Catholic ministry.
Ways to Fast and Save: Give up a meal and save ($5-$11), limit your meal by not upsizeing ($1-$3) , have water instead of a coke ($1-$2), give up one drink on a night out ($3-$7), have a cup of coffee at the John Saleh Catholic Student center ($3-$5), show student i.d. at theaters/go Tuesday nights ($2-$5).
“But I cannot do it every week. What else can I do?” Instead of weekly, we invite you to start once a month at $5, or maybe even $1. Sometimes money is hard to come by, but sometimes we put more value in it for the “
“What good can $1 do?” This one dollar helps build a tradition of giving, forms a foundation, and opens opportunities for others wanting to help. Donors want to know what students are giving to help support their student center.
